Foreshadows: The Ghosts of Zero

The submission adding this record was accepted in the database, but some changes were made in order for it to conform to ISFDB standards (see the help links in the Welcome section above).

  • Price was changed from "$36" to "$36.00"
  • The link to the cover image on an outside server was removed. We do not have permission to "deep-link" to this website. You can upload the image to the ISFDB server. Follow the link "Upload Cover Scan" at the bottom of the record data, and follow the instructions. After the image is uploaded to the ISFDB server, copy its URL, and you can then link it to the record.
  • The date of the introduction was changed from "2011-06-01" to "2012-02-21". We use the date the work was first published, and I'm assuming this introduction did not appear before this publication.

Not that the record's in the database, you should do a primary verification of it, if your data is from a copy of the book. (Instructions are linked in the Welcome section above.) Cloning a pub that's already in the database

If you want to add another edition of a title, go to its pub record and click the link "Clone This Pub" under the Editing Tools menu. On the next page you have the opportunity to change everything but the contents (you can add contents now and change page numbers, but you have to wait to remove contents on a second update of the record once its accepted.) It was not necessary to change the "tag" of the pub record of the regular edition. The system generates a different tag for each record. It's best to just leave the tag field alone until you've learned how a change in it will affect links to it, such as the image file of the cover that you uploaded for it. Thanks. Pub record title field

I removed the "(LIMITED EDITION)" statement from this record's title field. This field should only reflect what's stated on the book's title page. The note field is used to record any special qualities about the publication, such as you've done for this record. Mhhutchins 05:36, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Capitalization in titles

I've noticed that you've capitalized almost every word in the titles of this publication. We have standardized capitalization of titles, and all but the following words are capitalized: "and", "the", "a", "an", "for", "of", "in", "on", "by", "at", "from", "with", and "to" (unless these words are at the beginning or end of a title.) All the information that I've been giving you is spelled out in detail on this help page. Almost everything you need to know about adding and updating records can be found on this page, so it would be a good idea to bookmark it. Thank you for your patience with this newbie! I've studied the rules carefully, but it seems I've missed a few things here and there. The capitalization has been rectified in this record, and once that has been approved, I think it will be easiest to clone it again to make a new version of the Limited Edition and then just delete the prematurely cloned version (this publication) Does that make sense? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shuulinific-Lul (talk • contribs) .
Deleting the cloned record (the limited edition) will allow you to retitle each of the mis-capitalized stories. (Otherwise you have to edit each of their title records in separate submissions.) Once that's been done, you can clone the regular edition again. I'm going to reject the submission you have pending, because it creates entirely new title records for each of the stories that are mis-capitalized, requiring that you delete individually the records of the first versions. That would take many more submissions (and moderations for each one.) So let me do as I advise here and let you see the results. It would be easier for me as the moderator to handle it as it will take several submissions and moderations to clean up. Thanks. Mhhutchins 06:36, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

One other thing: I added a space between the initials in the name of Jeremy L. C. Jones. Please don't be discouraged by these small corrections. They're nothing more than the average new editor runs across, and if you stick around longer, you should be able to pick up all the ins and outs of editing the ISFDB. Thanks again for contributing. Thank you! That all looks great. I don't quite understand how the capitalization fix was supposed to be properly done, but it's definitely all good now on both editions. I have much still to learn, I see! Regarding the space between "L. C.", the author spells it that way—spacelessly—so that's how I put it in. But I realize there are conventions here. Same with the capitalization of the titles. I was just following the way it's capitalized in the book. Shuulinific-Lul 14:58, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
