Welcome!

Hello, Thosengl, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 05:33, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Bound for Evil

Because you've done a primary verification of this publication I assume you have a copy of the book. Please take the time to enter the contents. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 05:35, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Dead Souls

I've accepted the submission adding this record to the database, but have made the following changes:

  • Changed the publication date from "2009-00-00" to "2009-09-18" based on the Amazon listing (and gave this as the source in the Note field.)
  • Changed the binding from "sc" to "tp", the ISFDB designation for a softcover book taller than 7 inches (based on the Amazon listing which gives the book as 8.4 inches tall.)
  • Added the US dollar sign to the price (currency type is required.)
  • Changed the price from "20.00" to "$13.99" based on the current Amazon listing. If your copy has a printed price of $20.00 please revert this change. If it doesn't have a printed price, but you have reliable secondary evidence of it, you can change it back, and note the source of the price in the Note field.

When making future updates to current records or creating new records, please use this help page, which explains how to enter each field of a publication record.

Also, as asked in my previous posting, please add the remaining contents to the record. It is important that all primary verified records be complete as possible. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 15:37, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the additions. I made one further change: We don't have permission to link to images on www.morriganbooks.com, so I changed the link you provided to be a link to the image on Amazon (where we do have such permission). See ISFDB:Image linking permissions for details. By the way, if the pub states "first published September 2009", you can either change the publication date to "2009-09-00" (using "00" for the day) and remove the note about the Amazon date source, or you can change the note to say "publication day from Amazon" (and/or record the publication's statement in the notes as well). The reason I suggest doing one of these is because, as the information stands right now, it sort of sounds like the publication makes no statement as to printing date. Thanks. --MartyD 02:22, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The Literary Vampire (Series)

I accepted your latest submissions but had to change the title types to ANTHOLOGY (CHAPTERBOOK is only for publications of one single piece of SHORTFICTION). There are now two publication series: The Literary Vampire and The Literary Vampire Series (and I guess there should be only one: but which one?). Thanks for contributing, Stonecreek 15:24, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The submission adding the series number to this was accepted, but it seems to conflict with the other publication currently in the series. Are you certain one is "01" and the other is "LV01"? Mhhutchins 21:44, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The Vampyre

The author credit for this publication implies that all three persons were the editors of the anthology. If no one is credited in the book as the editor, the Author field (which substitutes as the Editor in ANTHOLOGY-typed records) should be entered as "uncredited". If you know who edited it, but wasn't credited, we can then variant the record to one which credits that person. Please edit this message to add a response to the question. Thanks. Cover image links

As was pointed out above, do not link images to ISFDB records from websites which have not given us explicit permission to do so. These are "deep-links" which means the images draw bandwidth from the hosting server and not the ISFDB. Some websites do not permit such links. I have removed the links from the recent records you've created. Please respond to this message to let me know you've read it. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:38, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The Bloody Roots

I accepted the submission to update this record, but removed the link to an image on an unapproved website (besides, it wasn't a valid URL). Also, I changed the price from "$25" to "$25.00" to follow ISFDB standards. Was the price printed on the publication or did that come from a secondary source? Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:41, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The Last Lords of Gardonal

Per ISFDB standards, when entering a non-ISBN catalog number, it should be preceded with a # sign. So in this record, the ISBN/Catalog # field should be "#DLP07". And again the price was incorrectly entered (should be $25.00). Also, when you get a chance you should add the starting page numbers of the contents. If the book is not paginated, you should count the pages, enter them in the Page Count field in brackets, and then determine the content page numbers which will also be entered in brackets, e.g. [12], if the work starts on the twelfth unnumbered page. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:51, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The story length for "The Last Lords of Gardonal" was also changed when I merged it with the database's current record which was typed as a novelette, and not novella. Mhhutchins 21:53, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The House of the Vampire

Same problems with this record. I will leave it to you to make the corrections in the ISBN/Catalog # field, the Price field, and the Image URL field. Mhhutchins 22:52, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

You'll also have to change the Author1 field from Tom English to George Sylvester Viereck. Mhhutchins 23:03, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

A Botanical Nightmare

Hello, I've approved your submission result here but there are still some points to be ironed. The story _The Story of the Grey House_ is entered as being by one author named "E. & H. Heron", in fact it's probably a joint effort by "E. Heron" and "H. Heron" so the record should be corrected. All the individual stories should also be merging with the existing records. It's not clear if "The Literary Vampire" is a publication series (like Ace Double) or a "literary" series (like Wild Cards) can you be more precise? Note that there is already a publication series called somewhat redundantly "The Literary Vampire Series" for the same publisher, perhaps that your title is part of it. Hauck 07:39, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
