'Nina Munteanu is a Canadian environmental scientist and internationally published author of SF short stories and several novels. Her novel, Darwin's Paradox, released by Dragon Moon Press is a near-future ecological thriller set in Ontario and was recipient of the Midwest Book Review Reader’s Choice Award and the Delta Optimist Reviewer's Choice Award. Its prequel, "Angel of Chaos" was finalist for the Foreward Magazine's Book of the Year Award. Nina's short stories have been translated and published in Greece, Israel, Poland, UK, Romania and North America. Several were nominated for the Speculative Literature Foundation Fountain Award. Nina also writes movie and book reviews that regularly appear in Strange Horizons, The New York Review of Science Fiction, and her own lively award-winning blog, The Alien Next Door. She published eight novels to date: Collision with Paradise in 2005; The Cypol in 2006; and Darwin's Paradox in 2007. Its prequel, Angel of Chaos, in 2010 by Dragon Moon Press; The Splintered Universe Trilogy (Outer Diverse, Inner Diverse, and Metaverse) in 2011, 2012, and 2013 (in press); The Last Summoner (Starfire) in 2012. Nina teaches writing online and gives workshops throughout North America. She published a guidebook to writing The Fiction Writer: Get Published, Write Now! with Starfire World Syndicate in 2009. The second in her writing guidebook series, "The Journal Writer: Finding Your Voice" was released by Pixl Press in 2013.

Nina Munteanu was born in Granby, Quebec, Canada. She received her Masters of Science Degree in 1979 in limnology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, prior to moving out to the west coast of British Columbia, where she taught science courses at university for several years. Nina taught at the Univesity of Victoria and Simon Fraser University in addition to working as a scientist with an aquatic-based environmental consulting firm. She is a member of SF Canada, a Canadian organization made up of professional speculative and fantasy writers, in addition to the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia and the Writers Union of Canada. She served briefly as assistant editor-in-chief of Imagikon, an avante-guard Romanian e-zine and is currently editor for Europa SF, a magazine devoted to informing the European science fiction community. Nina Munteanu shares her time between Toronto and Vancouver where she teaches and coaches writers. Her award-winning blog The Alien Next Door hosts lively discussion on science, travel, pop culture, writing and movies.
