British publishing company founded by Paul Hamlyn in 1950, although didn't publish much SF till the second half of the 1970s. Mostly paperbacks, but did some hardcover reference works too. Now part of the Octopus Publishing Group, owned by Hachette Livre.

Usual ISBN prefix 0600, but also shares the 00993 prefix with [[Publisher:Arrow|Arrow]] and [[Publisher:Legend|Legend]].

The trademark was originally filed on 11th June 1975 and published 17th May 1978. <br>
On 31st January 1992, the trademark was assigned in full from The Hamlyn Publishing Group Limited, Orbit House, 9 New Fetter Lane, London, EC4A 1AR.  <br>
On 26 February 1998, the trademark was assigned in full from "Reed International books Ltd" to Reed Consumer Books Ltd" by Egmont UK Limited, 239 Kensington High Street, London, W8 6SA. <br>
On 16 June 2000, the trademark was assigned in full from Reed Consumer Books Limited, Michelin House, 81 Fulham Road, London, SW3 6RB to "FB & B Limited".<br>
Current owner: Octopus Publishing Group Limited, 2-4 Heron Quays, London, E14 4JB with an effective assignment date of 10th May 2000.
