  • Introduction
  • Contributors

Includes bibliographic information as well as articles on Fantasy related topics. Bibliographic material is presented in essay form (most important works first, with the rest in chronological order), mixed with synopsis and critical information. Individual titles are present with dates of first publication, and often lists variant titles and pseudonym information.

Reference to this encyclopedia within ISFDB, whether or not the print publication year "1997" is stated, may in fact refer to content revised and available only online.

That article links other supplementary material such as a "List of Theme Entries" (official, not rigorously checked), which the print EoF lacks.

EoF is online and freely accessible since October 2012, with ongoing revisions limited to "the correction of obvious errors and the insertion of death dates" (--David Langford, contributing editor).

Cross-reference links within EoF entries target EoF entries and those within SFE3 entries target SFE3 entries. The two encyclopedias are integrated at the level of header and footer links, however. Header links in EoF include "SFE entry" where SFE3 contains a corresponding entry. Footer links in SFE3 may include a list of related EoF entries. For instance, see the header at EoF: "Nesbit, E" and footer at SFE3: "Nesbit, E".
