I am a longtime reader of nonrealistic genre fiction, and have a scholarly interest in its history, authorship, and literary aspects. I have a PhD in English and did a dissertation that treated Gothicism. I have published articles on Samuel R. Delany and Robert Silverberg, and have regularly reviewed scholarly books in the areas covered by ISFDB since 1994 for CHOICE magazine, a publication of the American Library Association. I was involved in fandom in my early university years, but not at present.
