The Estuary Tales and The Sphinx

Your submissions to add those new publications were put on hold, since you gave Future History as the title series, which is a most prominent one by Robert A. Heinlein. I take it that your titles belong to a different universe? Stonecreek 03:24, 8 February 2019 (EST)

Yes, I'll do that. There does remain the (somewhat unlikely) possibility that they were deliberately placed in Heinlein's universe, but without an immediate answer, it's better to play safe. Stonecreek 03:44, 9 February 2019 (EST)

This ecosystem is not anything to do with Robert A. Heinlein's universe. I have several 'future history' works based around the formation of a 'Sol Senate' covering the next thousand years of human history. I will give it some thought, but this classification is good enough. Caldon

Weatherman

Hi. I accepted your Weatherman submission, but I had to make a few changes you should be aware of:

• We do not have permission to deep link to Cloudfront, so the cover image URL you provided cannot be used. I replaced it with the URL for the image on Amazon (to which we do have permission to link). You can upload the image you have to the ISFDB if you want to. Go to the publication record, click on the "Upload new cover scan" link, do the upload, then edit the record to use the link to ISFDB's copy. I shall have to do that with all of them some day.
• I added "$" to the price -- currency should always be indicated. Caldon 12:08, 24 October 2019 (EDT) Mishap, sorry I goofed.
• The ASIN field is meant for the actual Amazon ASIN. I couldn't determine it for this. I moved the URL you provided to the notes, but having it isn't necessary -- the ISFDB software in the menu at the left when you're viewing the publication will provide a link to Amazon using the ISBN. So it should have that link available automatically. Caldon 12:08, 24 October 2019 (EDT) Another goof on my part. The ASIN is for Kindle books and I've loaded the print. Weatherman isn't out on Kindle yet
• CHAPBOOKs are odd ducks in ISFDB. They are essentially one-work collections/anthologies. So when you add a CHAPBOOK, you need to also add a content record for the short fiction piece it contains. I did that, and you will see it when you view the publication. Both the CHAPBOOK and the SHORTFICTION will appear on your author page. Chapbooks

I rejected your edits to change CHAPBOOK title records to SHORTFICTION title records. If you look at each of these pubs (for example, Memestalk), you will see they already have both a CHAPBOOK container title record and a SHORTFICTION content title record. This is correct. Hello,

I approved the addition but did a few changes:

• The links on the title level are for things that are common for all editions of a book; publication links go on the publication level. However in that case, the link was to Amazon and we already have that elsewhere so I removed it completely.
• As this is an ISBN that starts with 979, it does not have an ISBN10 so Amazon adds an ASIN starting with B and we record that in its special field. I added it there (for the books with 978 ISBNs, the ASIN is ISBN10 and we have another link on the left based on that so we do not record them in the ASIN field).
• We are an international DB so a currency symbol needs to be always added. :)
• While I was editing anyway, I added the link to the cover in Amazon. If you have a better one and you want to upload it, just replace it.

Thank you very much. I was concerned on why I did not get an ISBN10 for this publication and this is the first confirmation that the ISBN10 is the ASIN. Template:Uncredited

It would have been - if it could be calculated. The reason why the industry had to prepare to switch from ISBN10 to ISBN13 is because the ISBN10 numbers were getting exhausted. So they added 978 and recalculated the last number in preparation for the day it happens. And it did happen for US ISBNs in some ranges (there are French 979 ISBNs in the last years as well). So a 979 ISBN cannot have an ISBN10 and as Amazon relies on ASIN10 for their inventory, they add an ASIN starting with B instead. Hope that makes sense! Annie 19:29, 29 June 2020 (EDT)
