Hi.  I have your proposed correction to "The Jewel of the Hearth" (-> "Heart") in {{P|663341|The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, January-February 2018}} on hold.  While I don't doubt you're right, the publication record containing the information has an active primary verifier.  ISFDB practice is that if you're changing data that has been recorded in a primary-verified publication, you check with the verifier first (if you're merely adding data, it's usually ok to notify the verifier and make the change at the same time, unless you suspect there is something controversial about your addition).  So in this case, you should leave a note for [[User_talk:SFJuggler|SFJuggler]].  When he confirms, I will accept the submission.  Thanks.  --[[User:MartyD|MartyD]] 07:24, 1 May 2018 (EDT)

Welcome!

Hello, Ccfinlay, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins|talk 17:50, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I'm trying to add a record for the F&SF, November-December 2015 issue.

There are (at least) two typos in the entry information I provided: "J.P. Rini" should probably have been "J. P. Rini" and "Kathy Maio" should definitely have been "Kathi Maio." The latter is a data entry typo. I can't see any way to correct errors in submissions after I post it for the moderator.

Thank you for being patient while I figure out this process. I would like to get F&SF's records up to date. Ccfinlay 17:57, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

F&SF, Nov-Dec 2015

Thanks for adding a record for this issue. I had to make a few changes for it to conform to ISFDB standards. "J.P. Rini" was changed to "J. P. Rini" (note the space between the initials.) The date was changed to "2015-11". (For magazines we don't use the on-sale date, but the cover date.) I also corrected "Kathy Maio" to "Kathi Maio", "Jay Kristof" to "Jay Kristoff", and "adrienne marie brown" to "adrienne maree brown".

A question: is the collection Flying Home mainstream or speculative fiction? My research was unable to uncover any evidence that it is speculative. If it isn't, the review should be changed to an essay. (That will involve deleting the REVIEW record and creating an ESSAY record.)

Thanks again for contributing. Mhhutchins|talk 18:21, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

F&SF, Nov-Dec 2015 corrections

Thank you for making the corrections. I caught the J. P. Rini and the Kathi Maio, but only after I submitted it. (See the above note -- I can't figure out how to make corrections once I submit something for moderator review.) I also reviewed the entry after you approved it and found one other error, which I corrected on the form.

Re: Flying Home, in her review, Hand says that only one of the stories is explicitly speculative, and she covers that story at more length. She included it in the review because of that story and the overall thematic connections to the two anthologies.

I'll also submit info for the 2016 F&SF issues when I get the time. Thanks again for all your help.

Gervais

Thanks for the Steve/Stephen Gervais catch. I linked the two together. I also added the link to that bio you found, since we don't have anything better for a website. --MartyD 02:07, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction July-August / September-October changes

Hi. I have your proposed changes to the above on hold. When you want to modify data for an existing, verified record, you should discuss the changes with the verifier first, by leaving a note on the verifier's talk page (or following any directions you find there). If you are only adding data, it is usually ok to submit the additions and notify the verifier in parallel. I will point out your changes to Vasha and will accept them if he's ok with them. Thanks. --MartyD 10:17, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Sorry for the delay. Vasha confirmed your changes, and I accepted them. He made some additional tweaks to get the issue dates that were embedded in some of the disambiguated essay titles to match. --MartyD 06:38, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

Thanks, MartyD. I appreciate both the quick confirmation and the additional corrections. If I can make time soon (we're getting ready to launch the Nov/Dec issue and putting together the Jan/Feb issue right now), I'll add the ToC for July/August. Thanks again.

The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction March-April 2017 entry

To whomever has to verify this: I misspelled Andrew Vachss' name in the book reviews, and I think I entered Ken Liu's translation entry improperly. Once they've been entered I can't correct them until after someone else has verified them. My apologies for the errors. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ccfinlay (talkcontribs) .

I accepted the addition and fixed the reviews. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:10, 21 October 2017 (EDT)

"Jewel of the Heart[h]" in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, January-February 2018

Hi. I have your proposed correction to "The Jewel of the Hearth" (-> "Heart") in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, January-February 2018 on hold. While I don't doubt you're right, the publication record containing the information has an active primary verifier. So in this case, you should leave a note for SFJuggler. When he confirms, I will accept the submission. Thanks. --MartyD 07:24, 1 May 2018 (EDT)
