Welcome!

Hello, Divinov, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 08:21, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

City of Sorcery

Hello, I've approved your submission for this publication but had to make extensive changes to conform to our standards:

  • first of all, instead of using the "Add Publication to This Title" (that should be used only for a book really titled City of Sorcery), you should have created a new publication ab nihilo (via "Add New Novel").
  • I've changed the title to the portuguese one, unmerged it and varianted it (these are technical operations aiming to slvage your data).
  • I've uploaded a scan as we're not allowed to deeplink to the specified website.
  • I've added the translator.

The result is here. Can you check if everything is OK for you and confirm the cover artist? Thanks for contributing. Hauck 08:38, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Hello, I've checked and can confirm that the artist is listed on the Copyright Page. Thanks. Divinov 11:03, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

The Complete Borrowers Stories

Hello, I won't bother you with all the things that needed to be corrected for this submission (it would overload you). I've done my best and the result is here. Can you check it? Thanks. Hauck 08:51, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Hello, thanks for accepting and for the corrections. I've checked and changed the portuguese titles from "Pequinos (...)" to "Pequeninos (...)" because that is the correct spelling. Thanks. Divinov 10:57, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Caça aos Robôs

Hello,

I approved your submission but have a few comments and questions:

  • Is "FC Hemus" a real series by the publisher?
  • When you add a translated novel, do not add the series name. As it will be varianted to the original (I did that here for you), it will gets its series designation from the original.
  • We have a special template to be used to indicate translators {{Tr|name of the translator}} which I had added to your notes in the title. Using it will enable the system to identify the translators when/if a new system is built for their recording.

Welcome again and thanks for contributing! Annie 12:20, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Hello, FC Hemus is a "seal" used by the publisher on the cover of their sci-fi books. Does that qualify? Thanks for the corrections. Divinov 13:15, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
Yes, it does qualify! Thanks for answering.
On a separate note, when responding here, use : at the start of a first answer (one of those per line indent) and add one more : for each indentation. :) This makes things look ordered and easier to read :) I added it to your comment above. Annie 13:22, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Ilusões: As Aventuras de um Messias Indeciso

Hello,

I can variant this one to connect to the English title or you can try on your own. :) Let me know if you would like to try (and if you need any assistance and explanation on how it is done). Annie 14:18, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Hello, I'd like to try, please do explain how it's done. Thanks. Divinov 14:30, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
Here is the short step by step:
  • Go to the page of the author. In this case this page.
  • Look for the title in English. I suspect in this case, this is a translation of Illusions: the Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah . If so, then this is the title
  • Make sure that the type is the same - there are authors that have novels and short stories with the same name - you want to variant the same content only.
  • Look at the address bar or at the top right corner for the title ID (in this case 8002 unless if it is a different original -if so, grab that ID).
  • Now go back to your title (not the publication but the title reference (where you have the translator note usually). Look on the lefr for a menu item "Make This Title a Variant Title or Pseudonymous Work" under Editing tools.
  • Click on it
  • In Option 1, paste/type the ID we found earlier and press "Link to Existing parent".
That's it :) This here is the complete help page with a lot more details. And this one is the page explaining how to add translations. I would recommend to read them at some point - but for the last 2 you added, the above short version is all you need.
Once you get that figured out, there are two possible cases: differently spelled author names and non-existent parent. But we can discuss these when you hit one of them. :)
Let me know if you have more questions! Annie 14:48, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
