For "The Insignia Series", we have a mix of both of those.  There's a rather incomplete title series, [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pe.cgi?50917 The Insignia Series], and a more complete publication series, [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pubseries.cgi?7682 The Insignia Series].  One of these two treatments is inappropriate, but which one?  If you tell me which is the appropriate treatment, I can fix them (or you are welcome to do so if you'd like).  Thanks, and thank you for contributing.  --[[User:MartyD|MartyD]] 10:48, 22 July 2018 (EDT)

Thanks for your message. I was a bit confused about the different options for listed series'. I think a publication series listing is better because the books are

all standalone anthologies but 'The Insignia Series' is my label and wouldn't be used by another publisher. Would you mind making sure that all 5 books are

listed as a publication series, please? Sorry, I'm still learning my way around in here!

Welcome!

Hello, KMatsuura, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

The Insignia Series

Hi, and welcome. I have a question for you about the Insignia series. The ISFDB has two different concepts of "series". There is a "title series", where all of the works in the series share something in common (universe, theme, etc.), and the titles would still be in the same series regardless of who published them. And there is a "publication series", where books are arbitrarily grouped by the publisher and assigned some label, and the grouping and label would likely not be used by a different publisher publishing the same works.

For "The Insignia Series", we have a mix of both of those. There's a rather incomplete title series, The Insignia Series, and a more complete publication series, The Insignia Series. One of these two treatments is inappropriate, but which one? If you tell me which is the appropriate treatment, I can fix them (or you are welcome to do so if you'd like). Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 10:48, 22 July 2018 (EDT)
