I approved your submission of [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?724723 Utopia], but had to make several changes.  The publisher was shortened to "Ballantine Books"; the number of pages was shortened to eliminate the [4] in the middle; and the cover image doesn't work and was removed.  I'm not sure about the page numbers - what are the Roman numeral pages for?  Is there content up front that should be included?  Anyhow, I hope you keep learning! Publishers using the same ISBN for 2 independent books is nothing new and it had happened before. This specific book with ISBN 0-915442-63-9 ([http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?270353 here] had been verified by 3 active editors and if you look at the publication itself, this doubled ISBN is already noted. So no books need removing here - it was a publisher mix-up and we had cataloged the books as they had been published.

In the future, when you discover things like that, it will be better to post either in the [http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/ISFDB:Community_Portal Community Portal] or in the cases where the books are verified, in the editors'pages - moderator notes can get lost in the shuffle.

Welcome!

Hello, Markjoseph12555, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!Kraang 01:16, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Time and Again

Hello, I've rejected your submission for the modification of this publication as the notes are clear about the fact that's it's a hc. I've cloned the book for you instead and made it a tp, the result is here. You can now modify it at leisure (Is the price OK?) and become its Primary Verifier (by the "Verify This Pub" link on the left) which means that the data about this particular publication is confirmed by a physical examination of one copy (which is not the case for the hc). Thanks fof contributing. Hauck 06:44, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

Un Lun Dun

Hello, to change the ISBN, you should go at publication level (corresponding to the physical book) by clicking from here on the precise book that you want to update. Then you'll be able to use the "Edit This Pub" link on the left of the screen to modify the ISBN. Hauck 07:46, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

The Southpaw/Southpaw

Hello, I've rejected your submission. In this case, The Southpaw should have been made a variant of Southpaw and kept its initial publication date (the first time when it appeared under this particular title), the note becoming superfluous. I've done this for you. Thanks for spotting this. Hauck 17:06, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

'Tis the Season to Be Jelly

I have rejected your change to 'Tis the Season to Be Jelly. This title appears in multiple verified publications. While we do occasionally have errors, the odds that many people missed this is unlikely. When you said "As in the both the TOC and the story", which particular publication are you referring to? Only that particular publication should be edited to add a new title record of "Tis the Season to Be Jelly" (without single quote) which would be varianted to the original (with single quote). -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:13, 15 January 2018 (EST)

Utopia

I approved your submission of Utopia, but had to make several changes. Bob 22:19, 22 July 2019 (EDT)

The Shrouded Planet

Publishers using the same ISBN for 2 independent books is nothing new and it had happened before. In the future, when you discover things like that, it will be better to post either in the Community Portal or in the cases where the books are verified, in the editors'pages - moderator notes can get lost in the shuffle.
