Hello. I have [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?4773202 this] and [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?4773204 this] submission on hold. Have these two titles been published elsewhere with the earlier dates? If so, it's a good idea to also submit these earlier pubs for inclusion into the ISFDB. Thanks! Welcome!

Hello, MonsterKidRadio, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk 13:09, 31 August 2020 (EDT)

Monster Hunter for Hire

Hello. First of all, welcome to the ISFDB! I have your submission on hold as I have a few questions.

You have submitted this publication as an ANTHOLOGY. However, a collection of stories by a single author is recorded as just that, a COLLECTION :) But I have a question concerning the stories. Are these really stories, or rather, are they as chapters in a novel? I.e. are these part of a larger story arc spanning these different chapters/stories? If the latter, the pub should be recorded as a NOVEL.

In addition, there are a few errors that will need to be corrected once your submission is accepted:

  • The date you've entered is the publication date for the ebook, not the paperback (according to Amazon the pub date of the paperback would have to be 2019-04-08 - unless you happen to have a more reliable source that dates the paperback at 2019-03-22?)
  • Format: pb is only used for 4.25 by 7" / 11 by 18 cm or smaller paperbacks. tp is used for anything that's larger
  • ISBN: for publications after 2007, a 13-digit ISBN is mandatory. ISBN-10's are easy to convert. If, for whatever reason, a post-2007 pub only has an ISBN-10 printed on or in the pub, then make a note of that fact in the Notes field
  • Price: always preceded with a currency symbol. Here, price would read $6.00
  • Date and price: I'm guessing you did get that from Amazon.com. If that's the case, do make sure to record that fact in the Notes field (eg. 'Date and price from Amazon.com as of 2020-08-31') That way it is clear for everyone that the info came not from the pub itself, but from Amazon (or publisher's website, or...)
  • Amazon image URL's: some Amazon URL's have formatting (looks something like _SX331_BO1..._) which makes it an invalid URL. So that need to be stripped from the URL when copying over.

You can reply to this message by clicking the Edit at the right.

As you may have guessed, editing the ISFDB needs some getting used to:). If you wish to continue to contribute do read through the help text - links available in the Welcome message above. And do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have over at the Help Desk forum. There are always friendly moderators around that are more than willing to help you. Again, Welcome! Thanks for helping me out here! The book is, in fact, a collection. It is a collection of short stories. And you're correct about the paperback publication date being 2019-04-08. This would be a tp. The 13-digit ISBN would be 978-1091334601. The price is $6.00. The date and price did come from Amazon. And will this work for an image URL? 51mxm66Tj9L.jpg

Thanks again! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by talk:MonsterKidRadio (talkcontribs) .

Hello, I have accepted your submission, and made the following changes:
  • Updated the publication date, publication type (from ANTHOLOGY to COLLECTION) ISBN, price (added currency symbol), image URL and format per your feedback
  • Added a note that the data came from Amazon.com
The result is here.
As for the image URL, yes, that's the correct way to update it :)
And When replying to a message on our wiki, best to indent your reply by using one or more colons (':'), and sign with four tildes ('~~~~'). Again, thank you for contributing to the ISFDB! Regards, MagicUnk 06:27, 21 September 2020 (EDT)

Your title date updates

Hello. I have this and this submission on hold. Have these two titles been published elsewhere with the earlier dates? If so, it's a good idea to also submit these earlier pubs for inclusion into the ISFDB. Thanks! Regards, MagicUnk 11:11, 27 September 2020 (EDT)
