Welcome!

Hello, Mphillips, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 10:39, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Planet Explorer

Hello, I've approved your submission, thanks for founding the artist. Please note that, in such cases (the publication is Primary Verified), our etiquettes requires you to notify the Primary Verifiers of the changes, they may welcome the information that you found. Seven Days in May

Hello, I've put your submission on hold. Please give the source of your data and/or indicate (via a Primary Verification) that you own a copy of the book. So, what is the source of your data? Thanks. Hauck 01:40, 4 April 2018 (EDT)

I did a primary verification, as I own the book. Sorry, I'm still learning the ropes here. Mphillips 23:49, 4 April 2018 (EDT)
Thanks, approved.Hauck 02:15, 5 April 2018 (EDT)

Chapbooks and short stories

Hello,

I had to reject this submission because you are trying to variant the chapbook (the container) to the story. I've varianted the story properly. As it had never been published on its own in English (that we know of), the chapbook will remain unvarianted and in French for now. Let me know if you have any questions and/or concerns :) Annie 19:20, 7 June 2018 (EDT)

I also made two changes to your verified: fixed the format of the price (it is always €<number> when it is it Euro and not <number>€ and removed the ASIN - books with ISBNs use their ISBN-10 as ASIN and we do not record these as ASIN. An easy way to know if we want to record the ASIN is to look at the string - if it starts with a number, it is an ISBN so we do not need it as an ASIN; if it starts with B, it is an ASIN. Thanks for adding the book! Let me know if I can assist further. Annie 19:24, 7 June 2018 (EDT)
OK, thanks! My other French translations that aren't already in the system are much less complicated, so I hope to not screw them up! - Mphillips 21:53, 7 June 2018 (EDT)
It takes awhile to get used to the system :) Nothing is not fixable so don't worry - someone will assist if needed - we all started somewhere. Annie 22:10, 7 June 2018 (EDT)

Fahrenheit 451

I'd rather have "umpteenth edition, Month 2010" than "2010 date from used book listings" Which listing? Where would I check the existence of a 2010 Plaza & Janés edition? The use of an ISBN-13 indicates a later than 2005 publication date. tercerafundacion gives two Spanish 2010 editions, but none of those for Plaza & Janés. www.amazon.es doesn't help here either--Dirk P Broer 16:30, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

Actually, it turns out the 2010 edition I found on a used book site uses the same cover image but is from a different publisher. Let's forget that. What I have in my possession looks exactly like this, but with an ISBN-13, publication info up through June 2003, and a note in the back saying that it "se termino de imprimir en junio de 2003." But that's obviously not the end of the story, given the ISBN-13. I can find nothing that pinpoints the date of this printing. What should the entry look like? | Mphillips 17:09, 2 August 2018 (EDT)

My Name Is legion

Hi, I've imported content for your verified copy of My Name Is legion.--Dirk P Broer 08:33, 5 September 2018 (EDT)

Stardreamer

Hi, I have a submission of you on hold because the publication has been primary verified by four members and you haven't notified a single one of them of your proposed change yet. I think you have solid proof of your proposed change, but normally you notify the PVs of such a change.--Dirk P Broer 09:13, 15 October 2018 (EDT)

That's not accurate. I notified Willem H. and Rtrace on their discussion pages on the 13th as soon as I made the edit. Willem H.'s notification is on his regular talk page; a note at the top of Rtrace's talk page seemed to indicate that I should put it in a special "changes to verified pubs" section, so I did. I didn't notify Bluesman or Don Erikson because they haven't been active for months. I'm sorry if I shouldn't have given up on those two yet, but I did notify the others. > Mphillips 22:47, 15 October 2018 (EDT)

Urania #1021

Hi, i your change submission for Urania #1021 you state: "The letters column is signed "l'alieno di redazione" (the editorial alien) but there are two editors, so it's unclear which one did this, and thus I called it anonymous". Who else, beside Gianni Montanari?--Dirk P Broer 05:57, 3 March 2019 (EST)

Marzio Tosello is credited as "redazione" on the masthead and he wrote a lot of the extras in these issues (author bios, etc.) so I wasn't sure about who might have done the letters. // Mphillips 07:09, 3 March 2019 (EST)
