:::Hi! Thank you very much! I have another question. I did try, when I first started on this site, to upload image files from my own records for all of the book covers. But I have no idea whether or not that worked, nor whether they could be linked to my book records, nor how. So, I got my own website's links for each one, which, apparently, was not right. Are those images still in the system? Should I bother uploading them again? Would that help? Or do you prefer to just have the Amazon-linked images? If so, I'll just stop tinkering with the records. These are all of my science fiction books. I have written 10 other ones, but they don't suit this database, because they are all in other genres. Thank you again.

Welcome!

Hello, SCFJDQueenBee, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:38, 22 May 2021 (EDT)

Nae-Née - Birth Control: Infallible, with Nanites and Convenience for All

Stephanie, with some reluctance, I approved your submission for Nae-Née - Birth Control: Infallible, with Nanites and Convenience for All. The synopsis is far too long and detailed, please make it a synopsis, not a screed. The "note" for the pub is not appropriate. Move it the author's name; you can fill in birth date and place there as well, along with the language you write in. Finally, put a $ in front of the price; after all, it could be £ or C$ or ¥ or € or some other currency. I rejected your other submissions along the same lines, they all had the same mistakes. Love to have them in the data base, so please try again. Bob 15:57, 19 May 2021 (EDT)

Hi Bob.
I have input the changes you asked for, except for changing the synopsis, because I cannot figure out how to get back into that section and do it. I don't even know if this message will reach you. Please let me know if this was the right way.
Also, what about the other 2 Nae-Nee novel records, and the other book record that I created, for "What the Small Gray Visitor Said"? Are they there? How do I know one way or the other?
Thank you! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SCFJDQueenBee (talkcontribs) .
Use colons in your user talk to indent, this makes it easier for everyone to see what's going on. And end your comments with four of the horizontal squiggles, the "upper case" of the key above the "tab" key.
The change you made to the pub is fine, but you entered your curriculum vitae in place of your name in the contents. I guess I wasn't very clear. Once you enter a publication by you, your name becomes part of the list of authors. To get to your name, just click on it and you will be transferred to the story of you, pretty blank right now. That's where you should put your cv. I'm going to reject your submission; fixing the original pub should be pretty easy, so nothing really lost. Now for the other publications you submitted, you can go to "Your Rejected Edits", the eighth item down in the list to the left. If you click on the submission number, you can see what was rejected. If you wish, you can work on two pages of ISFDB to copy the material you originally submitted into a new submission with the corrections made. I hope this makes thing clearer. If you need more help, you can note it here or go to my talk page (click on my name at the end of my notes here) and ask me there. Bob 16:06, 20 May 2021 (EDT)
Hi Bob.
Thank you - I have started over with the other novels, and fixed the 1st Nae-Nee one.
Please let me know if it looks correct.
Am I using the colons properly? I'm not used to this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SCFJDQueenBee (talkcontribs) .
Each colon indents another level. So you should add one more than the person you are replying to used. I have updated this section so you can see the preferred flow. Also, please sign your posts. That makes it easier to follow the conversation. To sign, click the signature button (next to last) in the edit tools above the edit window. This will place --~~~~ which will turn into the signature when saved. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:45, 22 May 2021 (EDT)

Recent Additions

I approved you recent submissions, but had to make some changes:

  • Format: Based on Amazon product dimensions, these are all trade paperbacks (tp) and not mass market paperbacks (pb). The pb designation is used for the standard size paperbacks that are 7" × 4.25".
  • Image: We can only use images from approved sites. I changed all the images to Amazon for which we have permission.
  • Pub Notes: This field is for bibliographic notes about the book. It should not contain author bios or other non-publication specific info. Your author bio is on your author page.

Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:50, 22 May 2021 (EDT)
