Note: Costi Gurgu grew up in Romania, reading science fiction by Romanian and other European authors. In the 1990s he cofounded the writing group ProspectArt. His first story was published in 1993. He has since published numerous stories in Romanian and English and won 26 awards. He moved to London and then Toronto, where he currently lives. He earns a living as a graphic designer and illustrator, and has won two awards for speculative illustration.
