Note: Born in Tokyo, Kanji Hanawa is a French literature scholar, writer, and novelist. He studied French literature at the University of Tokyo. He made his literary debut with the short story collection ガラスの夏 in 1972. Also, he has translated works of French authors such as Verne, Simone Weil, and Sartre.
