Professionally he used A. V. Clarke, and fannishly A. Vincent Clarke at first, then Vin¢ (cent sign) Clarke." The pseudonym "Inquisitor" was an open secret in contemporary fandom at the time, as is stated in the non-fiction collection ''A Vince Clarke Treasury'' (Ansible Editions, 2015) which incorporates all the 'Inquisitor' articles.
