Note: Biographical data here: Obituary from the Indianapolis Star, January 5, 1991: Memorial services for Sarah "Sally" Fortner Hind Biffle, 97, Shelbyville, a former journalist in Shelbyville and California and author of several children's books dies Thursday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Lindquist Chapel of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis. There will be no calling. Leppert & Hurt Mortuary, Indianapolis, Is handling arrangements. A graduate of Hartsville College, she received a doctorate in journalism from Jefferson College in Texas. Mrs. Biffle was a reporter several years for the Shelbyville Daily Democrat and later became publicity director for the Keenan and Anthony Hotels, Fort Wayne. She was an editor and reporter for Sports and Cayety(?) Sews, Huntington, and was founding editor of the Temple City (Calif.) News. Inspired by Grimm's Fairy Tales, she became a prolific writer of prose and poetry, authoring several children's books. Her best-known book, "Sally K's Journey to Fairyland", was published in 1956 by Vantage Press. She taught English to foreign students at Pasadena (Calif.) Junior College and returned to Shelbyville In 1987. She was the widow of A. Garland Biffle.
