Note: Based in London UK. Founded in 1889 Sir Algernon Methuen (1856–1924). Known imprints include Magnet and Magnum. Operated as Eyre Methuen in the 1970s after a merge with Eyre & Spottiswoode; not all books used that name though so it also continued to publish as "Methuen". Regained its original name completely later (early 80s). One 1911 title page shows (all caps, centered):   Methuen & Co. Ltd.   36 Essex Street W.C.   London Algernon Methuen (1856–1924) "In June 1889, as a sideline to teaching, Algernon Methuen began to publish and market his own textbooks under the label Methuen & Co." --Wikipedia
