From Tuck's Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy:
This magazine began as the first $0.50 sf magazine since the old
quarterlies, but soon came down to $0.35. It was originally of quite
reasonable standard but fell off considerably in its later years. From
1957 it featured many "flying saucer" articles, both pro and con. A
series of articles by L. del Rey in 1958 were of note. Although the
magazine had a broader story scope than the others in the science
fiction field it published little of importance. Of Australian interest
were a number of short stories by D. Stivens and by F. B. Bryning.
"Fannotations," a fan review column by Belle C. Dietz, began
appearing in Nov, 1959, following the change in publisher. The
Detroit SF Convention was written up in Nov 1959. S. Moskowitz wrote
two sf history articles which were well illustrated. Santesson compiled
an anthology from the magazine - The Fantastic Universe Omnibus
(1960, 1962 British paperback; 1968 U.S. paperback).
