    • "Rainbow Classics" logo is on spine of dust jacket and half-title page. Publication series number "R-8" is below the logo on spine, and is also on back flap of dust jacket. On page 376 is, "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea illustrated by Kurt Wiese, is one of the series of Rainbow Classics edited under the supervision of May Lamberton Becker". Back of dust jacket lists 18 titles in the series, including this one, noting "Ages 12 to 14." On bottom of front flap of dust jacket is "012-014", apparently indicating the same age range.
    • On copyright page is "Rainbow Classics are published by the World Publishing Company" and "The special contents of this edition copyright 1946 ...". Also on copyright page of verification copy is "HC4", possibly indicating this is the 4th hardcover printing.
    • None of the illustrations by Wiese are signed. There are numerous black & white interior illustrations, plus 4 color illustrations on un-unnumbered pages: a frontpiece before the title page, and inserted after pages 158, 286, and 318.
    • There is no price on the verification copy (which has an un-clipped dust jacket.)
    • Boards are light gray textured paper imprinted in black, green, and blue with sea images.
    • No credit for this English language translation. Chapter 1, titled "A Shifting Reef" begins with, "The year 1866 was signalised [sic] by a remarkable incident, a mysterious and inexplicable phenomenon, which doubtless no one has yet forgotten."
