- Price from publisher advert Chi. Tribune -04-29 p2, which notes two formats for this new book, if not its "Other books by Kipling" (all caps, quote): Green cloth, net $1.50 [same line flushright] Red limp leather, net $1.75 [next line centered] At all bookstores
- One of the many WorldCat library records that report Doubleday, Page, 1917 (OCLC 561613051, below) notes "[Another ed.]" (red leather?)
- HathiTrust Digital Library (catalog record) provides full view of five copies, all apparently 1st printing -- Preface, p[v] (differs from 1st ed.; see Container Title) -- Contents, p.vii-viii, lists 28 including 14 stories (each story as beginning two pages later than in the 1st ed.) -- text spans p3-443; p[444] displays printer colophon, "The Country Life Press // Garden City, N. Y." The copy from Cornell U most clearly shows the front cover, gold lettering and black decoration on dark green cloth (design identical to others in a uniform edition, evidently). But the Cornell book lacks the first and last printed leaves.
