Of the stories with no credited author: -The first 2 stories, plus 4 others, are from the Brothers Grimm. -The Little Green Frog, Alphege or the Green Monkey & Fairer-than-a-Fairy (based on Le Prince Arc-en-ciel) are from the Cabinet des fées (attributed to the Chevalier de Mailly). -The Wizard King is from Les fées illustres(also by de Mailly). -The Invisible Prince is by Madame Levesque(Cabinet des fées). -The Dead Wife is from Myths of the Iroquois by Erminnie A. Smith. -2 other "Red Indian" tales are from the publications of the Smithsonian Bureau of Ethnology. -The White Duck, The Magic Ring & the 3 Russian stories are from the collection Russische Märchen by Wilhelm Goldschmidt. -The Story of Big Klaus & Little Klaus & 9 other tales are from Hans Christian Andersen (including The Blue Mountains). -Prince Ring, The Witch in the Stone Boat and Hermod & Hadvor are from the Icelandic, translated by W. A. Craigie from J.C. Poestion's Islandische Märchen. Heinrich von Wlislocki's name is misspelled Wliolocki.
