  • Publisher: Bantam Spectra
  • Price:
    $5.50?$: US dollar
  • Pages: [10]+197+[1]
  • Format:
pb?Paperback. Typically 7" by 4.25" (18 cm by 11 cm) or smaller, though trimming errors can cause them to sometimes be slightly (less than 1/4 extra inch) taller or wider/deeper.
  • Type: NOVEL
  • Cover: The Farthest Shore by John Jude Palencar [as by Yvonne Gilbert (in error)]
  • Notes:
    • On copyright page:
      • Bantam edition / October 1975
      • Copyright © 1972 by Ursula K. Le Guin
      • Cover art copyright © 1984 by Yvonne Gilbert
      • RAD 30 29 28 27 26 25
    • Undated 25th printing by numberline
    • Locus1 lists the 23rd printing (Feb '91, $4.95) so this 25th printing priced $5.50 was probably issued in the early or mid 1990s
    • The cover art credit is erroneous. The actual cover artist is John Jude Palencar as identified on this Boston University webpage as at 2024-03-19. Pub note in the 32nd printing also confirms cover artist as John Jude Palencar based on an email from the artist. Yvonne Gilbert was the cover artist for this 1987 Bantam pb but the artistic style of the cover of this 25th printing is very different
    • "Illustrated by Gail Garraty" on title page
    • The interior artist is unclear. Although Gail Garraty is credited on the title page, the "About the Illustrator" essay on page [198] credits Ruth Robbins. The illustrator is probably Gail Garraty. Firstly, page [198], which contains both "About the Author" and "About the Illustrator", has identical layout and contents to page [184] of the 32nd printing of A Wizard of Earthsea. That publication does credit Ruth Robbins on the title page so the publisher appears to have erroneously copied the "About" page to this publication. Secondly, the artistic style of the interior artwork between the two publications is different.
    • The double page map on pages [6-7] is not credited in this publication but, apart from the border, is identical to the map at the front of the 32nd printing of A Wizard of Earthsea. All the illustrations in that publication are credited to Ruth Robbins
    • Above each of the chapter headers is a half page spot illustration
    • Other price: In Canada $6.50
