Note: Boston, from 1837 New York City, eventually Most often given in the publications as "Little, Brown and Company", but entered into the ISFDB as just "Little, Brown". The imprint was purchased by the Time-Life Books parent company Time Inc. in 1968, and so became part of the Time Warner Book Group when Time merged with Warner Communications in 1989. In 2006, Little, Brown and Co was sold by Time Warner to the French publishing group Hachette Livre. Charles Coffin Little (1799–1869) and James Brown (1800–1855), clerks at the Boston bookseller Hilliard, Gray & Co., established the publishing, importing, and selling partnership Charles C. Little and James Brown in 1837. With other partners, it became Little, Brown and Company in 1847. Little, Brown acquired Boston publisher Roberts Brothers in 1898. This publisher also contain the books which are marketed as "Little, Brown Books for Young Readers" in USA as there is no distinction in their actual publisher credit.
