Note: New York Successor to John Wiley John Wiley & Sons, Inc., was established in 1876 when William Halsted Wiley (1842–1925) joined his father John Wiley (son of Charles Wiley) and older brother Charles Wiley in the business. From the Wikipedia biography of William H. (2018-05-27): "The family company began by publishing works by authors such as Cooper, Emerson, Melville, and Poe. Once in charge, Wiley phased out all publishing programs not concerned with science and technology, and established the firm as America's premier publisher of scientific and technical books. By 1895 the company became a worldwide organization, distributing American scientific knowledge around the globe." Wiley celebrated its bicentennial in 2007 (see publisher Charles Wiley).
