On the other hand, all of these publisher or imprint names are attested prior to 1872: • George P. Putnam • George P. Putnam & Son • G. P. Putnam & Son • G. P. Putnam & Sons For the latter see Putnam's Magazine, 2nd series, bound volume 6 title page (viewed at HathiTrust). As of February 2019, HathiTrust holds bound volumes 2 and 6, of six semiannual volumes, whose title pages display (quote last two lines): • G. P. Putnam & Son, 661 Broadway. // 1868. • G. P. Putnam & Sons, 4th Ave. & 23rd St.// 1870. George Palmer Putnam (1814–1872) dissolved Wiley & Putnam, his partnership with John Wiley, in 1848 (or 1847, which the Library of Congress reports for Wiley & Putnam). Both partners continued in the business, each eventually with two sons.
