Note: Founded 1960 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany, by eleven different publishing houses as a common paperback publishing house (Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag GmbH & Co. KG) for their respective hardcover titles; the first title was published in 1961. As of 2016 there remain four of the initial shareholders. Dtv now also publishes original titles (or German firsts) in different formats, also as hardcovers.
