Crowell led Mast, Crowell and Kirkpatrick Publishers of Springfield, Ohio, from 1881. In 1902, four years after the death of founder-owner Phineas P. Mast, he acquired the Kirkpatrick interest and established the Crowell Publishing Company, with offices in Springfield and New York City. --Wikipedia Thomas Y.
