- Publication Series: Presses de la Cité - Futurama?Presses de la Cite - FuturamaPub. Series Record # 187
-
Note:
- Name : Presses de la Cité - Futurama (sometimes known as Futurama 1ère série for the TP line and Futurama 2ème série for the PB line).
- Publisher : Presses de la Cité Paris.
- Period of activity : 1974 to 1982.
- Series' Editors : Jean-Patrick Manchette (with Jean-Pierre Bouyxou for the TPs).
- Number of titles in the series : 5 TPs (1ère série) + 36 PBs (2ème série) + 1 PB (not numbered).
- Numbering system : straight numeric from 1 to 36 (no holes) for the PBs (excepting Soleil vert), no numbers for the TPs.
- Format : paperback, 11 x 17.5 cm, stayed the same during all the life of the series; trade paperback 13 x 20 cm.
- Length : PBs started with usually 200 pages then dropped at the end to 150 pages when the series published halves of Binary Stars.
- Presentation : stayed the same, spine and back cover white with black lettering (back cover) and variable colors (titles) for the PBs, colored spines on TPs.
- Artists : specific covers first by French comics artists (Clerc, Sire) then a few stock covers (e. g. Gaughan), then again specific covers (De Huescar) for PBs, photographs on TPs.
- Reprinting policy : no reprints are known to this day.
- Origin of texts : first French publications, the last titles coming from the short-lived Binary Stars series. Note that all texts are anglo-saxon in origin.
- Bibliographical data present on the books : AI and ISBN are always present (for the PBs). Artist's names are generally omitted.
- Content : Only four collections and a few books that have been classified as Chapterbooks due to the absence of corresponding English solo edition of these novellas.
- Other bibliographical data :
- 1) The novel Soleil Vert can be seen as a precursor of "Futurama 2ème série" because what's known as "Futurama 1ère série" is mostly a TPs collection.
- 2) There are five titles which form the "Futurama 1ère série", they differ from 2nd series by the fact that they are not numbered, have photographic covers and, most evidently, are TPs.
- 3) The names of authors are generally truncated on cover and spine (with some misprints), although they are usually complete on title page.
