  • Publication Series: Oxford Children's Library Pub. Series Record # 7892
  • Note: 1958 to 1967 or so As of March 1959, sixteen volumes were in print with three including The Treasure of the Isle of Mist forthcoming in April and three forthcoming in September. Concerning "the great output of children's book in recent years ... [OUP] has cast its net wide and brought a number of them into a new series--the Oxford Children's Library at the price of 5s." --"Limits of the Imagination" by Mary Crozier, The Manchester Guardian 1959-03-20 p12 Taking those counts for granted, WorldCat records suggest that all of #1-16 were published during 1958 and the next six alone #17-22 during 1959. At least during the first two years, the series featured much adventure fiction, much set in the past; other historical fiction; and historical nonfiction.

5/-?Prior to decimilisation (1968-1971), UK books were priced in shillings, or shillings and pence, where 20 shillings equals one pound and 12 old pence equals one shilling. Shillings were indicated with a variety of suffixes, e.g. 3s, 3', 3", 3/ all mean 3 shillings. Any number after that is additional pence, usually 6 (half a shilling) but sometimes 3 or 9 (a quarter of a shilling or three-quarters of a shilling).
