[HLG]'s "Science Book" is nearly as good [as Arthur C. Clarke, Going Into Space] and possibly somewhat more comprehensive, including a balanced presentation of the pessimistic arguments against spaceflight soon and an excellent brief bibliography. Jack Coggins' illustrations, if lacking in black and white the excitement of his earlier color books on the same topic, succeed in making the text even clearer.
