Synopsis: Flaxman Low is called upon by his friend Professor Jungvort to investigate the strange case of the Baelbrow Ghost: a benign, long-established phantom that has suddenly started to ambush the residents of Baelbrow House (including Professor Jungvort's daughter Lena and even Harold Swaffam, a staunch defender of his family's "heirloom" ghost). The signs of this specter seem disparate - a clicking tread, the scent of medicinal herbs, its victims left anemic and terrified - but Flaxman Low has a theory that could stick this spook back in the grave for good.
