Note: While it's shelved in the science fiction section of public libraries and tagged as "Science fiction" and similar categories on Amazon the speculative fiction content of this story is low. It's a story about Jewish Poland immediately prior to and during World War II. The "science fiction" angle is that the story is told by someone living in the year 3000. However, the story itself is indistinguishable from a historical account of Jewish Poland immediately prior to and during World War II. The only hint of the year 3000 in the main story is on page 136-137 which is an account of Haim questioning Jesus and in the middle of this the prophet Elijah speaks of "a woman who lived among the stars but had come to the Warsaw Ghetto out of love, to meet up again there with a mortal she'd met in another world."
