Note: A Fontana paperback edition appeared also in 1988. The book was shortlisted for the Seal Books Award in 1987. Never published in the U.S.A. Not widely reviewed, even in Canada, since it appeared in the year that Collins became Harper-Collins with a resulting interruption of continuity in marketing.
Synopsis: An historical fantasy-novel, set in an imaginary Viking Canada of the middle ages. The heroine, Ingrid, lifts the curse on her people by challenging the ancient power of Odin, tyrant and rune-master. Accurately based on medieval Viking technology, mythology and lore, and on Native American customs and environment.
