Synopsis: SFE3: "The nine stories in the Expediter sequence, beginning with "The Expediter" (February 1984 Analog) culminate in The Expediter (fixup 1990), which assimilates some of the earlier material in an overview presentation of an exceedingly optimistic Uplift scenario, the tale being narrated by the Overmind charged with the task of breeding up other species to scratch"
From the Back cover of the DAW Books first printing: The search for another intelligent life form was over - Yet when humans first met the aliens known as the Phuili, they were faced with a people who refused to admit there could be more than one sentient race in the universe. To the Phuili, humans were clever et inferior "animals", no matter what contradictory evidence they were shown. The Phuili and humans discovered the technological relics of a long-vanished race, relics which could open the rest of the universe to both races. With the first shaky steps taken toward mutual alliance, humans and Phuili finally dared unlock an alien science they scarcely understood to journey to worlds which once had been beyond their wildest dreams. And on one such world their shared dreams turned into deadly nightmare as they encountered the Silvers, a dread berserker race sworn to destroy all other life forms in the universe...
