Note:
2 parts
I and II were originally published together, but not consecutively, as the 2nd and 5th stories of five told in the "Wirsthaus im Spessart" or "Inn" cycle. Translations of the two-part story as a whole are probably extracted from the Wirsthaus/Inn frame story.
For other translations and their titles, probably in context of the Wirsthaus/Inn, see Das kalte Herz I (or II).
"Heart of Stone (German fairy tale)" at English Wikipedia, and "the basis for the East German film Heart of Stone, released in 1950."
