Synopsis: A re-telling and substantial compression by Fulgentius of the original story by Apuleius. The ending is changed substantially: "There is no pregnancy and no baby Voluptas, no help and protection by the absent husband [Cupid], and no plea to Jupiter. All we have is a shotgun wedding ... The result ... is a darker and more pessimistic story ... focused far more on the girl's error than on her subsequent sufferings and final redemption."
