Synopsis:
"Free trade and protection, the question of wages and of labor and capital are discussed under a succession of fictitious incidents. 'Port Mystery' is located on the Pacific slope near Puget Sound. A man is supposed to have invented a method of making rice, which undersells the rice growers in the Southeast. The commercial excitement this creates is followed by many incidents, each carrying its lesson in political economy. Claims to be a satire on a protective tariff."
