Synopsis: An Australian scientific expedition in a region reminiscent of Ayers Rock (aka Uluru) is progressively decimated. A blue spot appears on the foreheads of some members, who fall sick and die. Others go mad, have visions of small men underground and mysterious local gods, or start killing each other. All perceive the sound of constantly beating drums. They also seem to have become totally invisible to the many rescue parties looking for them. Only two survivors manage to escape; but is it really the end ?
