Note: Though this is titled Einleitung (engl. "Introduction") it is not an essay but written in fictional form, telling of the world Corum lives in and why it is his story. It precedes the start of the first book of Corum titled Der scharlachrote Prinz in the German Omnibus Corum and is printed as if it were a standalone text, but in the English original The Knight of the Swords it is probably simply a part of the novel.
