- Walt Disney purchased the story for his "next cartoon feature" --noted in "Brief from Lots", dateline "Hollywood, Dec. 3.", Variety 1957-12-04 p14 The Disney animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians was released in January 1961.
- More than 100 WorldCat records report dozens of editions/printings of the Disney story from 1960, as by Disney or by Disney and Smith. Certainly the Disney story is usually published as "One Hundred and One ..." or "101 ...", and novel is not. WorldCat records with those title/headings rather than "Hundred and One" or "The Hundred and One" routinely report publications of the Disney story rather than the novel, and vice versa, but that may not be universal.
