Synopsis: A beggar hires a baby from a woman to improve her chances of getting charity for her begging. The biological mother cares nothing for the baby, but the beggar falls in love with it. When the baby dies, of cold and sickness, the beggar jumps to her death. While the story sounds like it will give way to a "Christmas miracle", instead the implication is that when she commits suicide, her love for the innocent baby will ensure her entrance to heaven.
