- As revised and edited by Alger, the translation --that is, The Adventures, the romance-- begins immediately with "Book I", which probably recounts the first of the so-called adventures. Its synoptic contents and first prose paragraph do not differ much from the synoptic contents and first prose paragraph under heading "Book I" in the 1830 Forbes translation. --1896, p. 1, and 1830, p. 6 (both viewed at HathiTrust)
