Synopsis:
The Powells move into a house they have rented for the summer. It is haunted by three ghosts, and so on. The story is scary in the beginning.
"In the end, however, one is forced to accept the ghosts in the spirit in which they are offered, an imaginative invention upon which to hang some humorous and witty observations on human behaviour."
--from Ken Gray The Irish Times 1965-12-04 p6, brief review of the UK ed.
"a low-keyed modern ghost story set in New England"
--from Anne Montagnes The Globe and Mail (Toronto) 1965-05-01 pA18, full review of the McGraw-Hill ed. as a spring publication (negative, suitable only for summer)
