- The Library of Congress Catalog Entries for the year 1913, Vol. 1, notes: "These few chapters appeared first in the 'Harvard Lampoon'." It also notes that the introduction for the book is copyright June 14, 1913.
- In fact the Introduction (view at Hathitrust) is signed June 17, 1913. In closing it notes, "These few chapters appeared first in the "Harvard Lampoon"--that Prince of humorous papers."
- The Boston Globe 1913-06-28 p4, "Clever Book of Humor: Those Familiar With Harvard Affairs Will Appreciate Alice's Adventures in Cambridge", notes that President Lowell of Harvard mentioned or alluded to the book in his Commencement speech. It must have a limited audience, "recognizable all the way to anybody familiar with the college and the names of the faculty and excruciatingly funny to anybody who has kept in touch with recent movements in the administration." Evarts is a student, or perhaps a June graduate.
