It was not easy for Homer to get the guard at the White House or anyone at the Pentagon, let alone the President, to take him seriously. But Diane had the good fortune to encounter COlonel Buck Walker, the hot-test pilot who ever saddled his flanks to a blowtorch, and the famous Cornelius Catastrophe Callaghan, who had a way with porpoises, pelicans, and the Pentagon. From then on things zoomed ahead with the most exciting, fabulous, and hilarious developments "Andy" Anderson tells the story, with his tongue not always in his check. It is all about Washington and the Government and it milks the Sacred Cow of the Pentagon with icy fingers. Though some advance readers say it outdoes, with a wink, Dr. Strangelove, Fail Safe, Seven Days in May, and Thorne Smith combined, Pandemonium is really incomparable.

A Hitchcock ending makes it all seem quite believable, but believable or not, it is unquestionably wonderfully enjoyable from the first page to the last."
