Synopsis: A tightly-related series of stories about Colonel Leo Davis, a centaur serving in the United States Army during World War Two. The first story, 'Acts of an Apostle,' is the personal narrative of Lukas Bunyan, a Sergeant Major with service from the Spanish American War to World War One, thinking over his life and Leo's impending service in the upcoming war. The next story, 'An Act of Love' involves the fall of Bataan. 'Act of War' takes place in North Africa; 'Trinity' in Tourai Belgium. 'Acts of Hnau' details a V-1 strike in London. 'Act of Vengeance' involves an armor battle outside of Aachen. 'Act of Rivals' describes the late air war over Holland. 'Act of God' is a long story of the Bulge, two postwar tales, 'Passing Encounter' and 'Echoes of War' conclude the book.
