Note: In this story of the Northwest, Edison Marshall has returned to the scene of his earlier novels. His many trips to Alaska have given him tales of strange adventures but none stranger than the survival of Ogden Rutherford alone, and unarmed, in these endless forests.
(background information stated within the second edition)
Synopsis: Rutherford was a son of civilization, accustomed to luxury, but all his former life was lost to him when the airplane in which he was traveling was wrecked, the pilot killed and he himself seriously injured. When he recovered with his memory gone, only the primitive instincts of the cave man provided him with food and saved him from attacking animals. It was months before he discovered a small tribe of Indians and he would have fled from them in terror had he not seen a girl who filled his savage heart with joy. For the sake of her companionship he risked his life and dared the anger of her tribe by capturing her and making her his woman.
Through the long Yukon winter they lived happily together, the Indian woman, amazed at his ignorance, teaching and protecting him. But with the spring came a feeling of uneasiness that worked up to a climax of excitement when they found themselves pursued. Would the real Ogden Rutherford emerge from this latest terror or would Og the Dawn Man survive?
