Note:
• The title of the book comes from a a piece of jadeite that Alice and her husband found in the ruins at Chichén Itzá near a statue that became their most important archaeological discovery, and which they believed was a statue of Queen Moo's consort. Alice's husband had the gem set in a gold brooch, a talisman that Alice would wear for the rest of her life.
• Dramatized by Brooks Betts in 1911, as mentioned in the Wikipedia article, and documented by WorldCat, OCLC 43991165.
